Monday October 29, 2012 Class

On Monday we discussed telecommunications moving to the cloud, using VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol).

1) PBX  - A PBX (private branch exchange) is a telephone system within an enterprise that switches calls between employees. Its a phone system that connects incoming calls to internal company extensions.

PBX systems are moving to the cloud. These web sites, like http://www.ringcentral.com allow companies to reduce costs, offer more services and allow easy flexibility.

2) FAX - Fax-based web sites now provide fax numbers to companies. These sites collect incoming faxes and email them to the company. For outgoing faxes, the document is scanned and the emailed or faxed.

3) Park My Phone numbers - You can take your phone numbers and turn them into automatic forwarding numbers. This will allow you to keep important numbers, especially business phone numbers and forward them to new phones at different locations.

4) Voice Mail - We looked at http://www.youmail.com
