Fiber has a connection speed 100 times faster than today's broadband and promises to give consumers of internet content a much better experience. Google has promised to wire schools, libraries and other public institutions free of charge, as a sign of good faith, if consumers adopt the technology in neighborhoods surrounding those institutions.
