As we talked about risk in class, Donald Trump was a name that came straight to my head. Many people know "the Donald" for his incredibly large net worth; however, they're not aware that he has filed for bankruptcy multiple times. I believe he is a perfect example of someone who seeks high risk for high reward.
Below is a link that that details Trump's strategy for success:

I agree with Oke 100 percent on this blog. Donald Trump is one of the biggest risk takers in the financial industry. However, like we discussed in class and in the article with high risk is high reward and Donald Trump is proof of that high reward.

Many people are afraid to take risks. Oke, I am glad that you chose to post about Donald Trump. It is commonly mistaken that Trump was always very successful and never hit any bumps in the road. Thanks for shedding light.
ReplyDeleteI agree that risk are necessary and without risk there are no high rewards. Although Donald Trump filed for Bankruptcy he still manage never to give up and take on even greater risk to gain high reward.
ReplyDeleteSome people tend to forget that all it takes is for Donald to take that one risk and lose it all. To go from the richest, to the bottom of the food chain in economic status. Some may disagree and say he will always make money off of his investments and his interest however, to lose almost all of your net worth is a risk that many would not take. I would not blame anyone who steered away from high risks that Donald run towards.
ReplyDeleteI think the problem comes in with instant gratification, that Professor Sistrunk was talking about. I believe Donald Trump felt that he was wealthy enough that a recession will never effect him and effect his market. I doubt Trump was a frugal spender either.
ReplyDeleteDonald Trump is the epitome of someone aspiring for the American Dream. He continuously seeks to get riches, have one of the most beautiful wives and own lavish real estate. His lifestyle has allowed him to lose his fortune multiple times over and gain it back. This shows us that though the American Dream may be achieved through material possessions, ultimately one's state of mind determines their ability to live out the dream.
ReplyDeleteLike Anthony said, he's the American Dream. He's successfully gained and lost more than most will ever get to make in their careers. Bankruptcy and all, his high-risk mentality has allowed him to hit big and when it counts most. Gotta risk it to get the biscuit!
ReplyDeleteDonald Trump is a classic example of successful risk taker. People do not realize that it takes risk to accomplish goals. As mentioned before, Trump took multiple losses to get to where he is today, but he is a man that is more than willing to risk what he has to get what he wants.
